Bill and Jim Germanakos, also known as the Weight Loss Twins, were both winners in season 4 of the Biggest Loser. I think we can all agree that there are millions maybe even billions of people in the world today who are concerned with weight loss. However, there is so much information on the web about weight loss it is hard to get any straight answers about it. That is where a body fat percentage chart can come in handy before you start losing weight in order to track your weight loss progress.
Now, while it may be extremely simple to find a body fat percentage chart online, it is really important to take into consideration the reason you are looking for this chart in the first place. If you are just trying to figure out if your percentage would be considered obese, the charts that you will find online may vary a bit. For the most part, the fat percentages for men and women that would be considered obese are approximately 25% for men and 32% for women. If you are an athletic individual a healthy percentage should be about half these amounts if not much less.
While this may seem like a complex calculation, it is actually a simple mathematical formula. Essentially, you are comparing the amount of fat in your body to your actual weight. For example, lets say you weigh 150 pounds and you have approximately 15 pounds of fat in your body, then your body fat percentage would be 10%, which, by the way, is an incredibly healthy body fat percentage. To figure out how much fat you are carrying in your body you must take many things into account such as your overall structure, bones, muscles, and organs. There are several calculators online that will make it easy for you to get an approximation of your body fat percentage.
If you find that you have a high percentage to begin with, don’t get yourself down, this is just your starting point. It can only get better from here, if you are truly committed to reducing it.
