When Do Weight Loss Plateaus Occur
If you are trying but not losing weight then you have hit what is called a weight loss plateau. This does not mean that your journey is over, it just means that your body has adapted to what you were doing and now it is no longer burning fat as efficiently. Fortunately there are things you can do now to get your body to keep losing and if you would like to learn more then I encourage you to read on.
Not Losing Weight?
1. Vary your calorie intake. Your body is very good at adapting to your calorie intake so if you have been keeping it low for a period of time it is likely that your metabolism has slowed to match it and this makes burning fat very hard. To keep your body from adapting you need to periodically and regularly boost your calorie intake. By adding 25-50% more calories one day a week you keep your metabolism high and your body easily handles the additional calories without turning them to fat.
2. Move carbohydrates out of your evenings. A great way to give your body the nudge it needs to lose weight again is to keep carbohydrates out of your diet after lunch. This takes away your body’s natural choice for energy and forces it to burn body fat for energy and soon your body becomes a much better fat burning machine getting your weight dropping again.
3. Exercise with intention. It is not enough to simply go through the motions when you exercise, you need to add some intensity to really get your body to burn fat. The best way to explode fat burning with exercise is to add short burst of high intensity to your cardio workout. Instead of staying at a steady pace when you exercise vary your pace reaching peaks of high intensity. This stimulates your metabolism and your body will burn fat more efficiently all day long.
