Weight Loss Running Pace

Am I running enough for weight loss?
I would love to be one of those people who wake up in the morning and go off and run 6 miles in an hour and feel great about it. However, I can only run at a steady 5.2miles per hour on my treadmill for about 30 minutes before I feel like dying. I start breathing really hard and sweating after only the first five minutes. I see the contestants on the biggest loser who are a hundred pounds overweight and can run 8 miles an hour. Is it because im short- 5′0″. Im 26 years old and i think im in pretty good shape. My legs and hips are where most of my weight is 22″thighs! ugh. But I only weigh 109lbs. Does everyone run at a different pace? I cant cut calories through dieting because I already eat at the most 1400 calories a day. Should I push myself and intensify my workout or am I doing fine at my own pace
i know exactly how you feel…i’m 5′0″ as well, i run almost everyday if i can, but i cant seem to do more than 2 and a half miles treadmill or a mile outside. my doctor used to tell me that smaller people had smaller lungs, making it harder for us to breathe…here’s the thing though, if your workout tires you out, that means that you’re 5.2 mph is probably burning more calories for you than those marathon runners who can run 5 miles without breaking a sweat. if you want to work up to more, you should start out slow–raising your speed or the amount of time by only small amounts at first. keep in mind though, 109 is nowhere near overweight for your height, so you have nothing to worry about!
