Weight Loss Helpers

Let’s start with the liver
This organ is a big chemical factory and in the same time – your personal chef and doctor. It’s built of thousands of hepatocytes which have double task: to metabolize “raw” nutrients into substances easier to absorb and on the other hand to detox the organism. When the liver hurts it means that the hepatocytes didn’t manage to complete one of the tasks.
How it works?
When proteins, fats, carbohydrates, mineral elements and vitamins reach the liver, they are ready for getting metabolised. In many complicated biochemical processes they become digestible for your cells and tissues.
What’s on the menu, chef?
The most important task for the liver is to transform glucose into glycogen – basic “fuel” for every single cell of your body. It also forms proteins from different amino acids or creates fatty acids from carbohydrates. From these fatty acids the colesterol is being made and so is the bile – the essential substance in the digestion of fats.
When the chef becomes the doctor…
Your liver converts toxic substances in neutral compounds. That’s why it doesn’t like alcohol. When someone frequently abuses strong alcoholic beverages the hepatocytes are being blocked and can’t continue their usual work. If they don’t work, large parts of triglyceride fats accumulate, the liver gets bigger and the situation can end up with hepatitis – the liver becomes swollen, hurts and causes fever or even jaundice.
How to defend
Because of detoxicating properties of the liver, it is extremely difficult to fight against certain diseases with traditional pharmaceuticals – when used for longer period, they can lead to further damages of the organ. That’s why a healthy diet is so important. But when the liver hurts don’t hesitate to trust the nature’s force.
Herbal remedies – the sure way to heal your liver
They can be used a lot longer than chemical medicines without causing any damage in hepatocytes and what’s most important – they inhibit the progress of certain disease. The best liver helper in today’s toxic world is milk thistle, well-known since Ancient times.
Keyword – silymarin
Key substance found in the seeds of milk thistle is silymarin. It acts as an antioxidant and according to the research it could be up to ten times more potent than Vitamin E. High quality and well prepared milk thistle products prevent gall stones, reduce cholesterol and because of its low toxicity are very helpful for hepatitis, fatty liver or people after chemo.
Tastes great
All parts of milk thistle are edible and became popular in the Mediterranean countries. Bitter leaves can be trimmed and added to a salad, roots eaten raw and young flower buds steamed. Not only it’s tasty, but also safely and naturally heals your most important abdominal organ.
