Often many people try to lose weight without the aid of exercise. This article goes over the reason why you need to keep exercise a part of your healthy new routine.
Losing weight can be tough and hard if you are resistant to change. We all are resistant because it is fairly daunting if not scary being in that in-between phase where we face our demons head on. So in order to try and help ourselves we try to find as many short cuts to weight loss as possible hoping that we don’t really have to change much about ourselves in order to succeed.
Unfortunately it doesn’t work like that. You have to make changes – lifestyle changes. Living a sedentary life isn’t healthy – our bodies are designed to move! Yes it is possible to lose weight by not exercising but you won’t feel good and most likely we feel fairly depressed fairly often. Which means you are more likely to slip into bad eating habits to cope.
Our bodies crave exercise so much that if we don’t get it we feel like something is missing. That missing feeling is then usually filled by less than desirable food! So not only is exercise important for your mental health but it is also important and very helpful in preventing you from going back to bad food habits.
Where to start though? Well keep it simple. It’s initially quite hard to get back into exercise if it’s been a long while since you have done anything, so pick something simple. Getting out for a walk everyday will do you wonders and really refresh you especially if you are cramped up inside all day. Once you have gotten a good few weeks of this you may want to change one walk or two into a run-walk-run session and build up from there. If running isn’t for you then find some classes and try something new and different until you find something you can make work on a regular basis. You may find that trying different things out is your regular thing to do!
If you find it too difficult to get started alone try to find a friend to do it with you. If this isn’t possible there are many support groups online and forums that can help you find someone in your area or a local group to help you get started.
So in conclusion, don’t leave out exercise. It is an important aspect of health and wellness. You won’t regret it once you get started!
